Upon successful completion of this course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification from NZQA and the experience to work in New Zealand in roles such as classroom language teacher, teacher aides, language assistants, online language teacher, or language trainer.
Graduates may also undertake further study towards qualifications in language teaching at Level 6 and above.
Entry Requirements
at least 18 years old
pass a safety check to complete the practicum component in accordance with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014
English Requirement:
Candidates who studied High School in NZ require at least NCEA level 2 English
Otherwise, IELTS Academic Score 5.5, with no band lower than 5 or its
equivalent
Target Language:
Demonstrate competence at Common European Framework of Reference C1 or above. (IELTS equivalent 6.5).
Timetable
Course Length: Level 5 20 weeks and Level 4 15 weeks
Schedule: 9am-3pm, Mondays to Thursdays
Two intakes per year: February and July.

Course Outcome
This practical course aims to develop your ability to plan and deliver learner-centred lessons responding to the language needs of learners.
Build your confidence with teaching strategies and language analysis needed in the teaching context
Gain a theoretical background to your teaching methodologies.
Analyse language, with support, for teaching purposes.
Gain work experience teaching in an authentic language classroom, and use the opportunity to respond to feedback from your course tutor and peers
