This nationally recognised
language teaching qualification is for those who are
or want to be a language educator in Aotearoa New
Zealand or overseas. Candidates will be proficient
users of the target language, which may be English
or any other language.
This practical course aims to develop your ability
to plan and deliver learner centered lessons which
respond to the language needs of learners. Build
your confidence with teaching strategies and
language analysis needed in the teaching context,
and gain a theoretical background to your teaching
methods.
Gain work experience teaching in an authentic
language classroom, and use the opportunity to
respond to feedback from your course tutor and
peers, and to reflect on your own teaching.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will
have the experience and qualification to teach in
New Zealand and overseas. WIE can also assist in
finding employment abroad, in countries like China,
Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and others.
Want to teach languages other than English? You need
only sit the one qualification; you will be
qualified to teach any language of which you are a
proficient speaker.
