IELTS Teacher Training Course

Waikato Institute of Education is pleased to be able to offer a teacher training course specifically designed for Chinese/Korean teachers of English involved in preparing students for the IELTS test. The Length of course is 4 weeks (the course can be shortened or extended according to the particular needs of the group). The course will be taught by highly experienced and qualified staff, all very experienced teacher trainers, IELTS teachers and examiners, who have taught in a variety of countries and teaching contexts. The course content can be adapted according to the experience of the particular group. The main focus will be: Structure of the IELTS Test. Teaching strategies for introducing new students to the IELTS test format. Practice for the IELTS Test. Teaching strategies for how to maximize the benefits of test practice. Strategies for the IELTS Test. Dos & don’ts students need to be aware of when they sit the test. Language for the IELTS Test. What language do students need to be successful in the test? Strategies for helping students to increase their vocabulary knowledge in the right areas. Skills for the IELTS Test. Focusing on the skills that students need in the Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking modules. The course will be full of useful insights that teachers can immediately implement in their own classrooms, and they will take home a portfolio of materials that they have acquired (and seen demonstrated) on the course.
