New Zealand Certificates in English Language (NZCEL)
qualifications are nationally recognised
qualifications intended for learners of English
as an additional language, who have successfully
completed NZQA approved programmes delivered in
New Zealand.
NZCEL is a new national qualification for
English language for migrants and international
students. It replaces the many different
certificates that had been available in NZ and
aims to provide a single, high quality, widely
accepted, English language qualification through
New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
By the end of 2015, all English language
certificates in New Zealand will be replaced
with NZCEL. The NZCEL will be available at
Waikato Institute of Education (WIE) from
February, 2015.
