What is NZCEL for?

Preserved NZCEL knowledge
The original WIE NZCEL page explained that New Zealand Certificates in English Language are nationally recognised qualifications intended for learners of English as an additional language who have successfully completed NZQA-approved programmes delivered in New Zealand.
It also explained that NZCEL was introduced as a national English language qualification for migrants and international students, replacing many previous English certificate names and creating a clearer framework through the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
The original WIE information described NZCEL as having levels from Foundation through Level 5, including Foundation, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5. It described the qualifications as relevant across parts of the English language sector, including secondary, tertiary and community settings, and for permanent residents, temporary residents and international students.
