The facilities are modern, with 6 faculty based teaching centres, attached computer suites, auditorium, students' centre, sports fields, astroturf, equestrian and golf facilites.

St Peter’s is organised as a Year 7-13 school, and in the junior classes, in particular, there is emphasis in the sound teaching of the basics. We believe in streaming, homework and the value of external examinations. The school’s academic record is outstanding.

St Peter's offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma as a pathway for Y12 and 13 students.  This highly regarded international qualification will be attractive to many students.  NCEA Level 1-3, as well as Cambridge mathematics are also available in the school. As part of the special character of the school, an importance is placed on divinity, music and the performing arts. The school has some of the best facilities, a multi-purpose auditorium, purpose-built academic blocks, and integrated technology.

There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including rugby, cricket, netball, rowing, snow sports, touch, athletics, badminton, squash, soccer, swimming and hockey. As well there is a golf academy, tennis academy, sports academy and a purpose built Equestrian centre. Music and cultural activities are an integral part of school life, with inter-house music competitions, a performing arts week and a widely-acclaimed annual school production. A wide range of individual music tuition is offered and students can become involved in the orchestra, band, choirs, dance, theatresports, Stage challenge, speech and drama.

St Peter's was one of the first colleges to join the Enviroschools programme in 2003 and has been awarded both the bronze and silver awards. A whole school programme of recycling and waste management practices is fully operational and lead by the students. The school has participated in 'conservation camps' in the Urewera National Park since 1977.

Each year there are parent meetings in the areas that serve St Peter’s, where feedback from parents is welcome. We encourage prospective parents to talk to our current families about what St Peter’s School has to offer.
